PROGRAMS
Pregnancy Counseling
This service of Children's Home Society of Florida is provided throughout
the geographic area. This program serves nearly 50 clients annually.
Adoptions
Infant, Special Needs and International Adoptions are provided. Adoptions
counselors also provide divorce custody studies upon request of the court,
attorneys, or the individuals involved. The adoption program provides
services for more than 40 clients annually.
Services to Closed Cases
Searches, non-identifying information, and reunions for the adult adoptee
and birth parents once the adoptee reaches adulthood. The program serves
more than 40 clients annually.
Joshua House
Joshua House is licensed residential group care program providing long
term residential group foster care and emergency shelter care services
for children in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and
Families. This program provides services for more than 100 children and
families
annually.
New Beginnings
This is a licensed maternity and bonding home program providing services
for pregnant and parenting teen moms and their babies/children. The program
provides services for more than 20 children and families annually.
Hansen Emergency Center for Children
The Hansen Center is licensed as a 20-bed emergency shelter care program
providing services for children who have been removed from their caretakers
in order to assure the safety. The program serves over 80 children annually.
David T. Michael Emergency Shelter Home
Gulf Coast Division opened a 6-bed emergency shelter home for children
under 6 years of age who have been removed from their homes because of
abuse, neglect or abandonment. The program serves more than 30 children
annually.
Pinellas Youth Shelters
Two emergency shelter homes for children and youth from 8 to 17 years
of age are in St. Petersburg. The program serves over 40 children annually.
Teenage Parenting Program
Social workers provide case management and counseling services for all
Manatee County middle and high school students who are pregnant and/or
parenting who opt to enroll in the program. This program serves more than
250 children annually.
Children's Advocacy Center
This program provides coordination of investigation and intervention
services by bringing together professionals and agencies as a multi-disciplinary
team to create a child-focused approach to child abuse and neglect cases.
Both CPT's in Polk and Highlands Counties are part of a C.A.C. C.A.C.
in Polk County is applying for full membership.
Child Protection Team
This program serves children and families from Polk, Highlands, and
Hardee Counties. The program provides forensic interviews, in-depth psychosocial
assessments, medical exams, and case consultation and planning for the
Department of Children and Families and local law enforcement agencies
relative to cases of physical and sexual child abuse. The program serves
1000 children annually.
CPT is a program of The Children's Home Society. plans for program expansion
include the development of a family visitation center and foster care
and adoption recruitment to be operated by the Children's Home Society.
